About
Hello, I'm Will. Practical Automation is me.
I built this practice on one habit: understanding the real problem a business has before building the thing that fixes it.
That habit comes from an unusual combination. My background sits across account management and computer science. Account management taught me to listen: to sit with businesses of every shape and size, understand what's actually getting in their way, and earn the trust to help. Computer science gave me the other half: the ability to take what I've understood and build something that solves it.
Over the years I've seen the same pattern again and again. Technology projects don't usually fail because the technology is bad. They fail because nobody took the time to understand the problem first. And for smaller businesses there's a second trap: the solutions on offer are so often built and priced for enterprises, so a perfectly fixable problem starts to look impossibly expensive.
Practical Automation exists to close both of those gaps. It is one person, not an agency: you deal with me from the first call to the finished build. I work with small businesses to find out what would make a difference, whether that's a first step into AI or an operational headache you've lived with for years. Then I build a right sized answer: practical, affordable, and measured against the outcome we agreed at the start.
No jargon, no scare tactics, no proposals designed to impress a procurement department. Just a straight conversation about your business, and an honest answer on whether the technology would pay for itself. If a job is too big for one person or outside what I know, I'll say so rather than mess you around.
I'm based in south west London and work with businesses anywhere in the UK remotely. If that sounds like the kind of help you've been looking for, I'd like to hear from you.
